“A Gift for Emma” Holiday Production

Denton Dance Conservatory (DDC) has been participating in our resident non-profit dance company’s production of “A Gift for Emma” for 27 years. The Denton City Contemporary Ballet provides the lead and soloist roles, while DDC students make up the rest of the cast. Auditions for the youngest roles (ages 3-8) are held at the studio the second Saturday in September. Our students that take “twice a week” ballet from ages 9+ learn choreography in class in order to perform onstage alongside professional dancers. The story, written and directed by Owner/Director, Lisa Racina-Torre, illustrates the challenges and triumphs of a young orphan girl, Emma, who’s only wish is to dance. Roles range from “Collector’s Dolls” to “Arabians” and from “Flowers” to “Butterflies.” With a cast of nearly 200 dancers, “A Gift for Emma” has become a holiday tradition for many families in the Denton area and surrounding communities.  Our performance will be held at Texas Woman’s University’s Margo Jones Theater in Denton.  Stay tuned for updates!
