About Us
History
Now in its 35th year of operation, Denton Dance Conservatory (DDC) was founded in 1988 by Owner/Director, Lisa Racina-Torre, DDC has become THE place to educate your dancer in Denton, Texas! Dancers, ages 2+ have found their dance “home” at DDC no matter what their dancing goals! We have graduates of Denton Dance Conservatory that have gone on to major college dance programs throughout the country, as well as pursuing professional careers in the dance arts.
Denton Dance Conservatory subscribes to teaching through positive reinforcement and nurturing in order to produce a life-long respect and love for dance as well as very happy and well-trained young dancers. The studio’s Owner/Founder, Lisa Racina has developed a classical ballet curriculum based on the Vaganova and Cecchetti techniques, as well as a highly respected Modern dance program that gives young people the strength, technical knowledge, flexibility, and creativity to dance to their fullest potential. DDC offers classes in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and pilates.
When you become part of DDC’s dance family, your dancer will have the opportunity to perform in Racina’s holiday ballet, “A Gift for Emma,” (see more under Performance Information) sponsored by Denton Dance Conservatory’s resident non-profit dance company, The Denton City Contemporary Ballet and youth company, the Denton Youth City Ballet (see more under Performing Companies). Your dancer will also perform in the studio Annual Recital Showcase held in early-mid June annually. DDC’s dancers have also performed in everyDenton Arts and Jazz Festival during the last 20 years!
